Igarra Development Association (IDA) for Inaugural AGM and Reception on December 26, 2016

ABUJA, December 14, 2016: Igarra Development Association (IDA), a community development association, will on December 26, 2016, hold its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Igarra, the headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area in Edo State.

The association will use the occasion to hold a reception for Mr. Taiwo Akerele, the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, and Mr. John Mayaki, the Acting Chief Press Secretary to the governor. They were recently appointed by the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki, after having served meritoriously in the previous government of Mr Adams Oshiomole.
Another important activity scheduled for the day, is a Business Forum, the forum is meant for members of the association and the greater Igarra community to brainstorm on business ideas that can be used to uplift Igarra town and its people the aim is to transform Igarra to a commercial nerve centre in the Edo North Senatorial Zone and environs.

IDA was formed in May 2016 by likeminded individuals desirous of the infrastructural and physical development of Igarra. The Association has continued to grow in terms of membership and relevance. IDA is an association of Igarra indigenes who reside in Igarra, throughout Edo State, all over Nigeria, and in the diaspora. It was formed to drive the development of Igarra from leveraging on cooperating with government, indigenes, friends, well-wishers and the business community of the town.
Speaking on the forthcoming AGM, Chief Mike Ukana, President of the Association, said that, “We have decided to come together as a people to work for the development of Igarra. A people united, as you know, can achieve whatever they set their minds to achieve and that is already working for us. We are therefore forging forward with a sense of focus.”

Chief Ukana added that “we are glad to also use the occasion to host two of our illustrious sons, Messrs. Taiwo Akerele and John Mayaki, whom Governor Godwin Obaseki considered worthy to be called to serve in his administration. We want to demonstrate that we are proud of them and that we identify with their successes.”

The Administrator of IDA, Alhaji Abdulsalami Uba Ajayi explained that, “The event is unique in that it will mark the formal inauguration and the choosing of an Interim Executive Committee to run the association. As at today, it is on record that Akoko-Edo is the longest existing local government area (LGA) in Nigeria because it has never been split since it was created. Igarra, the headquarters of the LGA, has been neglected for no just reason for so many decades. As a result, we have come together as one strong body to be agents of change to bring development to Igarra and make it a truly great community and center of excellence.”
