The team was led by Mr. Monday Sule and included Hon. Fatai, Ofei and Paul Alaba Lawani

The Medical Director of Akoko-Edo LGA Dr Bello received the team at the hospital. After exchanging pleasantries Mr. Monday Sule briefed Dr. Bello on the reason for the visit.

Dr Bello informed the team that, He is the zonal medical director of Akoko_Edo LGA and that it is impossible for him to be at either Ibillo, Uneme, and Igarra at the same time.

He said that the work load was too much for him alone to handle. He also said that the hospital has only four official nurses and 5 warders making it difficult for them to attend to all the patients at the same time.

Concerning the referral issues, he disagreed with the claims of the complainants. He also said that having his ownership of a private hospital wasn’t a taboo and that it’s like that everywhere.

Concerning the laboratory, He said he has tried all he could to ensure that there is a standard laboratory in the hospital, but the government said they don’t have what it takes to employ specialists (Radiologist) in that field that will handle the scanning machine and other related equipment’s efficiently.

Finally, he was asked by the team that in what areas IDA can be of assistance to the hospital.

He said he will appreciate it if IDA can assist in getting more doctors, 4 other qualified nurses, 5 warders, a modern ambulance to replace the already worn out one, and a standard laboratory.
He expressed a warm gratitude over the donation of staff quarters by Mr Wagna, a member of IDA to support the health sector. He also said it will be of great help if IDA can apply for NYSC doctors.
He concluded by saying that the last renovation work in the hospital was not completed as the roof of one of the buildings was removed and not replaced.
